
Andre Anderson is an African Nova Scotian filmmaker with over 13 years of experience in the film and television industry. Andre consistently uses storytelling to empower communities and amplify marginalized voices. His passion for community development and youth empowerment is deeply rooted in connection to the African Nova Scotian community. Andre holds a diverse educational background, including training at Neptune Theatre School, a Business Administration diploma from NSCC, and studies in Economics and Social Justice at Saint Mary’s University. His innovative thinking has earned him recognition, such as the Halifax Innovation Challenge and the 30 Under 30 Innovators Award by Atlantic Business Magazine.
Throughout his career, Andre has demonstrated a commitment to uplifting youth, through his work at Imhotep’s Legacy Academy, the Halifax Community Investment Fund, and as a youth council social chair with the Delmore “Buddy” Daye Learning Institute in 2019. These roles have equipped him with skills in program design, mentorship, and community engagement, which he now brings to his new role as Manager of Youth Programming & Engagement. Andre is excited to return to the Delmore “Buddy” Daye Learning Institute to lead innovative initiatives that inspire and support African Nova Scotian youth.
