Do you want to hear directly from African Nova Scotian and Black students about their experiences inside and outside of the classroom?

Our reportStudents Speak, We Listen” reflects and documents the impact of the May 2024 Ancestral Roots Summit for Black students grades 8-12 in Halifax and Dartmouth.

The Summit’s focus on topics like representation and belonging in education, and harnessing the power of collective student support and unity, directly addresses issues raised in the BLAC report. As we mark the 30th anniversary of the BLAC Report, our post-Summit report serves as both a celebration of progress and a reminder of work still needed to achieve equitable education for African Nova Scotian and Black learners in the province.
