About the DBDLI Board (Tyee)

The Delmore “Buddy” Daye Learning Institute (DBDLI) was created in response to the Black Learners Advisory Committee (BLAC) Report on Education. It is governed by a Tyee (Board) comprised of African Nova Scotian citizens who provide leadership governance for the Institute. The DBDLI has a mandate that encompasses learners of all ages and its Tyee has a board capacity of 12, of which two seats are designated for youth 19-30 years of age.

The DBDLI is committed to being a leading provincial and national centre of knowledge and research on Africentric theories and practices that improve educational outcomes, and inform policy about African Nova Scotian learners.
