Lily is a white and Afro-Mi’kmaw woman from Kjipuktuk (Halifax) who aims to make a positive impact through entrepreneurship, program development, and sharing Black and African Nova Scotian histories. As a multiracial person with African Nova Scotian and Mi’kmaw roots through her paternal family (Francis, rabbit clan), she has continually chased answers to the question many biracial/multiracial individuals ask themselves: Who am I? Seeing the world through intersecting identities, she is passionate about co-creating prosperous communities, economies, and legacies alongside systematically marginalized people on the path to collective liberation. Her social enterprise, Sankara Market, is an online marketplace which helps build cross-cultural appreciation and empathy for all communities through accessible, vendor-made multicultural food and craft. In her personal and professional life, Lily is impassioned by connection and community. She’s excited and grateful to be on the DBDLI team in the Africentric Learning department.
