Africentric Education Conference 2026 | May 28–29, 2026 | Hybrid

Conference Theme: We Rise Together: Ubuntu and Africentric Approaches to Lifelong Learning in Community Creating Systemic Change as a Global Movement

The 2026 Africentric Education Conference is a unique two-day gathering of Africentric community members, educators, changemakers, and global leaders. Hosted in beautiful Halifax, Nova Scotia, by the Delmore “Buddy” Daye Learning Institute (DBDLI) in collaboration with the University of Venda and University of Pretoria, South Africa, this event is not to be missed.

The conference brings together educators, researchers, community leaders, Elders, youth, and global voices to explore how Ubuntu and Africentric approaches to learning can drive meaningful and sustained systems change.

Grounded in the principle that “I am because we are,” the conference centers identity, belonging, and relational accountability as foundational to education. It builds on the legacy of centuries of African Nova Scotian advocacy, the BLAC Report, and ongoing efforts to transform education systems to better serve Black learners and communities.

Through keynote presentations, wisdom circles, research presentations, and community-engaged sessions, the conference creates space to reflect, connect, and act. It bridges local and global perspectives, recognizing that the work of transformation is both deeply rooted in place and connected across the diaspora.

This gathering is both a reflection and a call forward, centering community as the foundation for reimagining education and advancing systemic change.
