The DBDLI accepts application for sponsorship to work in partnership with and support local groups and organizations in the delivery of Africentric and culturally-focused events and initiatives.

Our aim is to improve the educational experiences, opportunities and outcomes of Nova Scotians of African ancestry.

Guidelines for completion of the DBDLI Sponsorship Application Process

  • All application sections must be completed and a detailed budget included. Decisions on requests are confirmed at the DBDLI Board of Directors (BoD) meetings:

    • Applications for consideration at the May BoD meeting must be received by April 1;
    • Applications for consideration at the September BoD meeting must be received by August 1;
    • Applications for consideration at the November BoD meeting must be received by October 1;
    • Applications for consideration at the January BoD meeting must be received by December 1;
    • Applications for consideration at the March BoD meeting must be received by February 1.
  • Recipients will be required to provide a post event report demonstrating how all conditions relating to the funding have been met.

  • Recipients/ partners will clearly indicate the support received from the DBDLI verbally to attendants at the event and on promotional material for the event.
